What Hemingway Can Teach us in 2021

Now that 2020 is behind us, we can all look ahead to what is in front of us and make the most of each moment.

Hemingway provides a unique approach to life in this crazy world.

We can talk about the stress of the world. Or the lack of certainty. Or how hard we have been working to achieve our goals and how we aren’t anywhere close. But in the end, that doesn’t matter. What matters is how we use what we do have.

Hemingway wrote:

“Now is no time to think of what you do not have. Think of what you can do with what there is.”

There is is.

What can you do with what you have?

In case you did not know, I’m not the world’s greatest athlete. (Sorry to burst your bubble.) And I am certainly not a leader in technology or medical research.

But I am a leader in my own life. I can decide how to respond to each moment that comes along. I can choose to double-down on things in my life that are important to me and provide me joy. I can invest in the relationships that inspire me, that challenge me, and that provide me the love I need.

And you can to — if you choose to focus on what you can do rather than what you can not do.
