Holding On, A Journey Awaits

Posted By Richard on June 3, 2009

PostSecret Last Sunday on PostSecret (if you haven’t heard of it, check it out!) there was this post card and the following comment that had been sent in: “Maybe, that was the cat helping you through a very difficult time and then knowing you’d be okay.” The card and the message got me thinking…

What in your life have you been holding on to?

Let me put it differently. You’re the cat, what are you holding on to and is it holding you back from better things?

I’ve read countless stories of parents and pets hanging on for the very reason posited in this post card. People and pets have an innate need to make sure their loved ones are taken care of before letting go.

So what are you holding on to? It doesn’t have to be as drastic as holding on to life to make sure things are okay. Maybe you’re just holding on to dreams you didn’t fulfill as a child and are now living out yours dreams through your children. (This is a fear I personally have when I have kids as I never achieved my full athletic potential!) Or maybe you have a dream today, but the cards aren’t there yet for your to pursue them. I don’t suggest getting rid of the dream, but maybe now isn’t the time to let it hold you back.

There are untold riches to those who don’t have their blinders on and are only focused on one goal. Open your heart and mind to anything and everything!

Be the cat: loving and sincere and nurture everything you can until it’s time to let go. When you let go, an amazing and unwritten journey awaits!
