What Santa Clause the Movie Teaches About Achieving Your Dreams
Scott Calvin did not set out to become Santa Claus, but in the end, that is precisely what happened. After his first go-around as Santa, he is sitting in his room at the North Pole with Judy, discussing how he doesn’t really believe in Santa.
Judy calmly responds, “Seeing isn’t believing; believing is seeing.” The same is true when it comes to achieving your dreams. You have to believe them to see them.
Think about kids in the summer time. I remember each summer hitting tennis balls over the roof of my house, pretending it was the bottom of the ninth in the seventh game of the World Series and the championship rested on my bat. Some times I won. sometimes I lost. But I always pictured myself in the moment.
And while I did not become a sports star, I ended up becoming a decent tennis player and coach. I spent hours imagining me in big moments on the tennis court. I believed I could do certain things in the tense moments. I believed it before I saw it.
Now, as a speaker and consultant, I believe in what I’m saying because not only do I actually believe it, but I have seen it. I speak from experience.
If you’re dreaming of something different, or hoping to taking on a new challenge but aren’t sure that it will work out, here is my advice:
Do it. Believe it. Believe you can do it.
You never know how something is going to work out until you try it. And once you try it, you will see it.
